George Moorfoot

Richard, Clifford and I, give sincere and heartfelt thanks for the help, support, and concern shown by neighbours and friends throughout George's illness, and for the many cards and expressions of sympathy we received on his death. The awareness of that sympathy was very supportive and comforting over the weeks, and the kindnesses and offers of help which, I know, were genuinely meant, were very much appreciated.

Thank you to all who attended the funeral service. It was really overwhelming to see so many people present as we entered, and my apologies to those whom I didn't get to speak to afterwards. It was a difficult day but it was very comforting to know so many people cared and took the trouble to show their respect for George at this time.

Many, many thanks to everyone.

I am delighted to tell you that, thanks to your contributions, and those of relatives and family members, we are able to send £400.00 to Cancer Research UK. Thank you everyone for your generous donations.

Military Wedding

Grace Martin sent in this photograph of when she and her late husband, Eric, were married at All Saints Church. This was the first military wedding to be held in Rudston and it took place during the second world war.

At the time of the wedding, Eric, who was in the RAF,  was stationed at Driffield Aerodrome, and was a rear gunner in a Whiteley Bomber with 77 Squadron.
Grace was 'in service' with the Thirsk family in Bridlington.
