TRAIDCRAFT

A BIG thank you to everyone who supported the Traidcraft Stall on 5th November. It raised £220.00, and the week overall raised £1007.00. So much can go so far in the Third World.

Many Thanks.

RUDSTON CRAFT GROUP

As we are not able to have our ‘Evening of Carols’ in the Village Hall this time, we are going round the Village, Carolling, on Monday December 13th.

We would welcome anyone who would like to join us—the more the merrier. The money raised will go towards the Village Hall Fund.

We will meet outside the Bosville Arms at 6.00 pm.

Christmas quotes

Unless we make Christmas an occasion to share our blessings, all the snow in Alaska won't make it 'white'.

I stopped believing in Santa Claus when I was six. Mother took me to see him in a department store and he asked for my autograph.

FIREWORK DISPLAY?

There were a lot of fireworks in the village this year including a spectacular display at the Bosville Arms. Wouldn't it be good next year, if the whole village came together for a bonfire and firework display, with hot food in the village hall?

We could do to have some events to pull the village together and develop community spirit - perhaps we need a village association to organise some events - maybe when the village hall project is completed it will be used more, and draw people together. What do you think Martin?

Jane Crossley

Well Jane, as you are asking for my views, here they are. I think that a village firework display would be a good idea, but substantial funds would have to be raised to put on a display grand enough to attract those people who go out of the village to attend other organised displays. The other consideration is Public Liability Insurance. Does the cover that the Village Hall has, include such events or would it have to be funded separately?

I agree entirely with your ideas for a ‘Village Association’ to help organise such events. Remember the ‘Rudston Razzle’, the Jubilee Celebrations and the Rudston Gala of recent years? All well attended, and great fun for the Village.

Rudston is full of people with the skills and knowledge to form such an association, so you never know. What do you think Rudston?

REMEMBER ME?

I am trying to get in touch with anyone who might remember me when I was younger. I used to live at SPRINGDALE FARM with my parents, John and Brenda Grant; I went to Boynton School with Fiona Clark, Catherine Jackson and the Corners. If any of these people are still in the village, and they would like to get in touch, please send an e-mail to me at julie.i@Tesco.net. If anyone would like to get in touch with Andrew, Julie or Paul Grant, please get in touch.

NORTH WOLDS LIONS

Santa will once again visit the village, with the help of the North Wolds Lions to pull his sleigh; Rudolf and his friends have to rest up ready for the Christmas run.

Santa can be seen in the village after 5.30 on Wednesday 15th December after visiting Grindale and Boynton.

Please help to speed Santa on his way by coming to your door or gate when you hear the Sleigh music. The Lions Club members will collect door to door.

All donations go to local Lions Charities

If weather prevents Santa visiting, he will try again on Wed. 22nd December. 01377 254172 for exact times.
