Rudston has lost one of its well known characters, with the sad loss of Grace Martin, who, for 63 years, lived in the same house on Nightingale Row. Over the years, Grace was a regular contributor to the Newsletter, with stories, facts and the occasional tasty recipe.
Grace always claimed that it was the Rudston air that kept her going, I hope it does as good a job for the rest of us.
She will be sadly missed by all.
THANKS
I should like to take this opportunity of thanking the many people from Rudston and the surrounding area that supported and helped myself and Richard when we were organising the recent Duck Race. The majority of these people were non-committee members and nothing to do with the Village Hall as such. It is certainly surprising how much time and effort an event such as this can take up.
My thanks also to the companies and individuals that sponsored the prizes and to all the people who turned up on the day to make this a very enjoyable and profitable fund raising event. I am sure that the committee members that were there on the day would be well pleased with the £1498.68 which was raised for the Village Hall funds, I know we were; that sort of total made it all worthwhile. Once again, my sincere thanks to all.

Race for Life:
Many thanks to everyone who sponsored me for the Race for Life, especially the ladies of the WI. I raised £110 for cancer research and felt part of a wonderful, moving event.
