The spring weather seems to have been beneficial to some of the spring fungi with the early ink-caps and St George's mushroom doing well but even in dampish conditions several species have not made an appearance. Spring flowers have prospered with impressive displays of cowslips and, in particular, early purple orchids.
The water vole population is still present but it has moved slightly both upstream and downstream of the village hall, and the stickleback population, in spite of a continual water flow, is very sparse this year in the same area.

As an old gentleman was driving down the motorway, his mobile phone rang.
