Warwick Energy: Prospective Planning Application

On May 12th, I was approached by a consultant employed by Warwick Energy, to initiate a community involvement process as required by the spirit, if not the letter, of current Planning Legislation.

Warwick Energy is the latest owner of the Lower Caythorpe site, where there is presently an electricity generating facility. This enterprise followed the rundown of the gas field, the exploitation of which drove the original planning application.

That very first application was 'lifted', in other words, the plan was passed on condition that the site was to be returned to its former state after 10 years.

Since then, there have been other successful planning variations, but again, with time provisos.

The, Consultant, Mr. David Langham, would not give any details other than to say that it involved gas storage under pressure, and that the development would be substantial and permanent. Despite repeated questioning, this was all he would reveal.

Accordingly, I have organised a public meeting at Rudston Village Hall on June 13th, at 7.30 pm. everyone welcome.

Representatives of Warwick Energy and David Langham will be present to take questions, as well as Parish and County Councillors, after which we hope we will be much clearer as to what Warwick Energy's intentions are.
