ALL SAINTS CHURCH, RUDSTON,  SOCIAL COMMITTEE

Many thanks to all those who helped and supported the lambing lunch on February 15th. Seventy people enjoyed Stew and Dumplings, or Shepherd's Pie, followed by Fruit Salad and Coffee.

Those who chose to, looked round the Snowdrops and the Lambing Shed, at Low Caythorpe, and everyone seemed to enjoy a sunny winter's lunchtime.

£645.90 was raised to help pay the Church Quota.

Rudston Newsletter is 21 years old this month

The idea of a newsletter was, and still is, to let people in the village know what is happening, and to encourage them to have their say.

In February 1984, at the Parish Council meeting, Mr Norman Cummins, who then lived in the village, suggested the idea of a locally produced newsletter. He said that the cost should not be excessive, as the Alternative Rural Services in Bridlington would do the typing and duplicating free, as long as stencils and paper were provided. It was agreed that the Parish Council would fund the first monthly edition, and that Mr Cummins' offer to be responsible for the production and circulation of the newsletter was accepted. The newsletter was to be free of charge, and delivered to each household in the parish.

In March 1984, the first Rudston Newsletter appeared, with Norman's wife Sally acting as editor, and consisted of 5 sides of yellow A4 paper.
