THE VICAR'S RAMBLINGS

It's all happening this month! Rogation Sunday, when we traditionally ask God's blessing on our fields and meadows; Ascension Day, when we celebrate Jesus returning to heaven, as a token of our being able to join him when we die; Election Day, when we celebrate a new government - or not, as the case may be; and then St Matthias's Day, the lad who was chosen by lot (not ballot!) to succeed Judas Iscariot, the traitor, as one of the Twelve Apostles; then comes Whitsun, when we celebrate the sending of the Holy Spirit on the church; and Corpus Christi, when we remember that Jesus left us a special meal of his body and blood in the form of bread and wine to sustain us on our journey here. Plenty to choose from; come and join us for any or all!
And just so that you know - the steel frame surrounding the top of the church tower will keep it secure for a few years, but it is ultimately unstable and needs repairing properly… which means fundraising in the years ahead. Sorry!
