Editor's Piece.

Hello and welcome to this month's Newsletter.

There seems to have been a recent increase in the interest for quad bikes. On several occasions they have been seen travelling at speed, down Southside Lane, from Zig Zag Wood. On one such occurrence, about ten of them came down in convoy, and parked on the verge, engines running, at the junction of Southside Lane and Burton Agnes Road. If people want to ride these machines, and I am sure it is great fun, then they should do so with consideration to others.

We received our polling cards in the post the other day, and guess where the poling station is! Yes, it's the Village Hall, and although the work is progressing well, somehow I don't think it will be fully ready by the 5th of May. At the time of writing, I have been informed that provision for people wishing to vote will be made at the hall.

The problem of dog fouling doesn't seem to go away. It's very sad that the Newsletter should continually have to raise this subject, but, since the last edition, I have been contacted, directly and indirectly, by a number of residents - some extremely upset and others extremely angry - concerning the issue. Not only are our pavements and footpaths a constant threat to the unwary walker, but it seems that our gardens are also receiving unwanted attention from unsupervised dogs. Unfortunately, people who are prepared to allow their pets to roam around freely and choose their toilet sites at random, are unlikely to take heed of a few lines in their local Newsletter. Due to libel laws, naming and shaming is out of the question (if, in fact, names are known), and I am sure the local council won't deploy a dog warden to the village. So what is the answer? If you have any ideas for addressing this problem, please get in touch.
