RUDSTON VILLAGE HALL NEWS
Work on the hall progresses and the constructional work is nearing completion. We do not anticipate, however, that it will be completely finished by May 5th, Polling Day, but are planning to provide voting facilities in some part of the Hall. The access ramp should be in place and we will ensure that there is somewhere clean enough and safe to be used for you to cast your vote.
It may not be decorated and there will certainly be no floor covering. Work has gone according to plan and, hopefully, according to budget, but we are now ready for the items which had to be 'pruned' from the original grant application so we could be considered for the major funding award. We do not have sufficient money now to finance the completion work. We had to pledge £8,000.00 as our contribution to the project and this is to be paid over from funds at the end of the building works.
A further round of applications is being prepared to secure the money to finance the outstanding works such as the decorating, the items still needed to complete the final fitting and furnishing, and the provision of essential equipment. We hope there will not be a noticeable 'pause' in the project but we have just about come to the end of the available money and have now to secure the rest. With this in mind, may I remind you that tickets are now on sale for the Duck Race which takes place on May 29th, (hope it is not as wet as it was last year, - the weather, not the 'racecourse')!! You can get your tickets from Committee members or directly from the promoters, Allan Stephenson and Richard Hewison. Whatever is made on this day will go towards the completion of our refurbishment project. We are nearly there, please support this event. It was a real fun day last year and there was a lovely atmosphere at the Village Hall and alongside the beck.
