NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
Personal possessions – How safe are they, and if you are unfortunate enough to become a victim of a burglary or theft, could you accurately describe or identify your items to the police? |
|
|
Each year property is recovered, and yet not
returned to its rightful owners through lack of identification.
A postcode, plus house number or personal mark, could easily identify the object. Engraving, etching, ultra violet or invisible marking, either underneath or behind the item will also help. Photograph your items, using a ruler nearby to give size comparison. Keep items out of site in parked vehicles; don’t make your car a target. A car with nothing on show, and good security, makes the vehicle an unattractive prospect. Nuisance, and anti social behaviour appears to be occurring in certain areas within our community. Why do it? It’s such a small community the persons responsible are easily identifiable. The situation is being monitored. And finally, fancy being a Special Constable to help in reducing crime in your area? Volunteers are required to provide a minimum of 4 hours per week within your community or area of choice. Comprehensive training is provided, as well as an allowance of up £1,500, plus expenses, plus uniform and equipment. Any questions, or possible answers, to your coordinator Pete Smith 420647 P. Smith – Neighbourhood Watch Coordinator For more information about Special Constables go to http://www.humberside.police.uk/Jobs/pagefour(b).htm Or phone - 01482 808172 (Ed.) |
