Editor’s Piece. Hello and welcome to this month’s Newsletter. What a lot of hard work the flower arrangers must have done for the Festival of Flowers. We popped up to have a look around on Monday, and the displays were still looking fresh. Some of the blooms that were used in the arrangements were rather unusual, and I hadn't come across them before. If you did not go, then you missed something rather spectacular. I hope the event will be repeated next year. Well done to all concerned. Please, please, will people refrain from parking their vehicles with two or more wheels on the footpaths. On several occasions, children alighting from the Boynton School bus have had to walk into the road on Eastgate to negotiate vehicles which were totally obstructing the footpath. Last month’s Newsletter turned out better than expected. The pictures looked nice and crisp. The reason for this is that the Newsletter is now printed by us, rather than just being photocopied from a master copy, as it was previously. After nearly 21 years service, Tony Ezard has stood down as treasurer for the Newsletter. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his work in helping to keep the Newsletter afloat, especially over the last few months when we have had to find an alternative way to get it printed. Shirley Harland has stepped in to take over the role as treasurer; welcome to the team Shirley. Anyone wishing to sponsor the newsletter should get in touch with either Shirley, myself or one of the other committee members, Barbara Burgess or Shirley Clark. One resident has written to the newsletter about an upsetting incident that occurred in the early hours on 4th September, when someone thought it would be a great joke to rap very loudly on their door. Someone also mentioned an unconfirmed story about some people ‘harassing’ an elderly Eastgate resident while he was washing his car. This sort of behaviour causes concern; have these people been brought up in such a way that they are totally disrespectful of others’ peace and property? Martin Frankish. Editor. |
