Editor's Piece.

Hello and welcome to this month's Newsletter.

There was a good attendance at the public meeting in the Village Hall, concerning the proposed development for the Low Caythorpe gas field. The meeting was very informative, and some concerns were raised by those attending. At the last Parish Council meeting, where the proposals were discussed in greater detail, the view of the council has changed (see Crossland's Column). There was a Special Meeting on 22nd September, but at the time of going to print, I have no further details.

As most of you are aware, the Village Shop has, for various reasons, ceased trading. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Paul and Linda for their time there, and wish them every success for the future.

The Party in the Park was well attended by many young people from the Village, and they all appeared to be having a good time. The music was a little on the loud side for me, which reminds me of the saying, "if it's too loud, you're too old!!" Neil Watson has sent the Rudston Youth Club Constitution, which is included in the Newsletter.

It's been a quiet year for wasps, but recently we seem to have been inundated with Daddy-Long-Legs (crane fly - Tipula paludosa) this year, more than ever. They fly in through open windows then spend all night flying round light bulbs or bashing into the television screen. Then you spend time in the morning gathering them up, only to wait for the next insurgence. In their adult form, they are totally harmless and don't bite, but they are just so annoying. At least when winter is here, we will see, until next year, the end of all those irritating insects.

If you would like to be able to tax your car locally, then Kilham Parish Council are asking you to sign their petition . This will be presented to the DVLA - If they are successful, you will be able to tax your car at the Kilham PO. The petition can be signed at Boyes Garage and  the Shop.
