We had a record number of "observing" visitors to the last Parish Council meeting with 8 being present. It is good that people are taking an interest, but we can't manage many more in the meeting room! However, one of those present was Mr. Jon Oliver, who was invited to speak during discussion on the Low Caythorpe Gas project. As a result of his evident knowledge of the subject, and ensuing discussion, the Parish Council has somewhat changed its viewpoint. From "generally supportive" it has gone to "deeply suspicious". The full picture had not yet emerged, nor any official plans, and it was agreed to include Mr. Oliver in future deliberations. "Preliminary" plans were then received in September, from which our comments were invited by end of the month. (It had been originally pencilled in for one week sooner, but quite coincidentally, it was discovered that the Action Group was holding a meeting that night). Whatever the outcome of both meetings, rest assured that the Parish Council is treating the matter very seriously, and will endeavour to reach a fair and balanced decision.

It goes by the lengthy title of Self Defence Action for Equality Training Co. Ltd. with an address in Hull, but a poster advertises "at a venue near you", so maybe they will organise something locally. Anyway, the phone/fax number is 01482 707750 and e-mail www.safewomenstraining.co.uk. I kid you not - the letter is from a Development Officer called Penelope Penny!
Back to posters a moment. As mentioned before, village notices take precedence over "outside" events, and because of more than usual of
