Editor’s Piece. Hello and welcome to this month’s Newsletter. Well, summer is almost over and hasn’t it been a funny one! The floods, especially the one in Boscastle, have brought misery to hundreds, if not thousands. I wonder what autumn and winter have in store! The Newsletter, for the past few years, has been printed for us by Bridlington School. Unfortunately they are no longer able to offer this service, so over the summer break we have had to look into other ways to get the newsletter into print. The options available to us are very few; commercial printers have quoted us around £80 an issue, other organisations have given prices of around the £50 - £60 mark. The third option that we have looked at is to print the newsletter ourselves. A benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has generously funded the purchase of a laser printer for this purpose. We should be able to print the newsletter for between £25 and £35 an issue (if my figures are right!!) - depending upon on the number of pages and copies per issue. David Peace has kindly offered his time and services to carry out the task of printing the Newsletter each month and Sue Ezard has offered her services in folding and stapling the pages. For logistical reasons, the printer is to be located at Sue and Tony Ezard’s home but it is emphasised that it is specifically for the sole purpose of printing the Newsletter by David. The cost of printing the newsletter will, as usual, come from the generous people who regularly sponsor us, and from our small advertising revenue. To enable us to continue with the newsletter the cost of sponsorship will regrettably have to rise to £25 per issue. I would like to take the opportunity to thank those at Bridlington School, especially Maureen Jackson in Reprographics, who have printed the newsletter for the past few years. Thank you. Barbara Moorfoot has some good news about the Village Hall refurbishment, but we still need to raise more money towards the appeal. Martin Frankish. Editor. |
