We have a vision of a pleasant, warm, easily accessible meeting place with comfortable furniture, convenient kitchen and toilet facilities and the opportunity to introduce new activities for the benefit and interest of all age groups.
The contract figure for providing these improvements is £145,879 which, compared to the quoted price for a new hall (as suggested in 2000) of £454,000, seemed achievable.
We are within sight of our main goal provided we can raise the amount necessary to release the £50,000 from WREN.
For this, we desperately need your help. We are almost there and if we can raise this extra £5,500, work can begin next month. We shall be approaching local businesses for any available financial help but also make this urgent plea to everyone in the village for any help they feel able to give.
Donations to the Fund will be gratefully received and are very badly needed. It would be so disappointing if we got as near as this and were unable to clear the last fence. A lot of work has gone into this so far and we appreciate that many of you have already made significant contributions in terms of effort and money but just a little more could see us making a lasting contribution to a much needed village facility which will be enjoyed and used by future generations for many years. If we are unable to achieve our aim, the Village Hall will rapidly deteriorate and become a derelict eyesore. The roof is in desperate need of repair, we need a new water supply and of course, later this year we shall be hit by the new regulations regarding access and specialised toilet facilities for those with disabilities.
PLEASE do all you can to help us. If we can carry out our plan, we shall have a Hall of which we can feel justly proud, which will be a pleasure to use and will be the envy of surrounding villages.
Donations may be given or sent to the Treasurer: Wes Laws, Foxholme, Long Street Rudston Driffield YO25 4UH.
