Sure Start

I am currently working for Sure Start, Bridlington. We work with families with children under 4, and aim to give all under 4's the best possible start in life.

My role is Rural Outreach Development Officer, and I am presently researching the outlying villages of Bridlington to find out what services exist, and also where our services can link in. As you can imagine, this is quite a task looking at all the outlying villages - Rudston is one of them - and I would like to make links with anyone from the village - preferably a parent who would be interested in Sure Start services.

You can contact me on 01262 409596. I very much look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

MICRO GRANTS

East Wolds and Coastal ward was chosen to pilot a new Lottery grants programme - micro grants. Up to £500 was available to small local groups with the aim of improving the quality of life. The scheme has now closed but Rudston has certainly had its fair share of the funding!

Did you know that:

The new bridge over the Gypsy Race to the playing field
Table tennis tables and equipment
Tennis coaching
Blinds for the small meeting room in the village hall
A water heater for the village hall kitchen

have all been funded through this scheme? Our thanks go to all who took the time to fill in the grant applications, organise the spending of the money, fill in the monitoring forms etc., etc.

There is a lot of money available through similar grant schemes, so if anybody has any other ideas on how to make life better in Rudston don't be put off developing those ideas!
