Well, there is! You ask your card-issuer for a "signature-enabled card", and don't take "no" for an answer.  The industry's Association for Payment Clearing Services (APACS) have been made aware of the problems, so it is hoped that there will be some sort of national action.

That last matter is more likely (though not exclusively) to affect older people. This next one does. E.R.Y.C. are anxious that many over 60s are not claiming their Council Tax Benefit, and a campaign is being launched to highlight the fact.  A poster is currently awaited, and will be displayed as soon as possible.

A revised timetable for the "regular" (Teals) bus service starts on 5th September. Timetables have been pinned up in the bus shelter and on notice boards, and spare copies are available at the shop.

For those interested in events elsewhere in the East Riding, I have details of a number of them through a county newsletter.  Briefly they include: Village History Trails (Rudston will be asked if it wishes to participate), the redundant church at Warter to become a heritage centre (open day, 10th September), Save the Corn Bunting (one for our Nature News?), and looking further ahead, Burton Constable Hall is staging a major exhibition in 2007, and wishes to hear from anyone who worked there or were tenant farmers in the past. Village histories of Sproatley, Tunstall and Halshain will also feature.

The next Parish Council meeting should be October - details next month.
